Hello, I’m Rob.

I’m a cycle mechanic and freelance writer based in Bristol, UK. you can usually find me riding bikes of all shapes and sizes, running, hiking, camping, taking photos, playing music, and writing about those things along with other goings on in my life.

I started this blog in late 2021 having just picked up a little camera and begun writing a private journal, I wanted somewhere to share some thoughts and images more publicly and nerd out on anything I find interesting, and so here we are.

Why ‘The Pencil’? well robborek.com was taken, and as ‘The Pencil’ nickname was bestowed onto me by an actual real writer of books it seemed like a fitting choice. I think it stemmed from me growing a mustache and being at the thinner end of thin people. No, I don’t write with a pencil.
