For those who don’t already know, when i’m not nerding out on bikes or building wheels, my day job is in the world of boards. Bristol is blessed with an incredibly freindly, and inclusive skate and longboard scene, and last night a few of this lovely bunch came down to the shop for an evening of personailising thier boards with a few cans of spray paint and some paint pens.
Historically skateboarding (yeah, even longboards!) could have such a hardcore and sometimes unwelcoming image, and was also super male dominated. Seeing a bunch of women loving life on four wheels and adding thier own touch of style and personaility to thier boards is a breath of fresh air. At the shop we really beleive that boards are for everybody, whether your 15 or 50 and kickflipping a set of stairs or cruising down the seafront, boards put smiles on faces, and who doesn’t want a smile on thier face?
Now the shop smells like Montana94 and I love it.
